Steering the Ship

  • Election Power: One of the most crucial roles of a shareholder is electing the Board of Directors. The board is responsible for overseeing the building's operations, finances, and upholding the bylaws. Your vote plays a vital role in choosing who represents your interests and manages the co-op.

  • Voting on Issues: Shareholders have the opportunity to vote on various matters beyond board elections. This could include major renovations or changes to our bylaws.

  • Holding the Board Accountable: Shareholders have the right and responsibility to attend board meetings and raise concerns. The board should be transparent and responsive to shareholder questions and feedback

Building a Strong Community

  • Understanding the Bylaws and House Rules: These documents outline the co-op's operating guidelines, including everything from maintenance procedures to pet policies and noise restrictions. Familiarizing yourself with these rules is important for ensuring a smooth living experience for yourself and your neighbors.

Financial Responsibility

Co-op fees are the lifeblood of the building, covering maintenance, utilities, insurance, and property taxes. Paying your fees on time is crucial for the co-op's financial health.

  • Maintaining Your Property: While major repairs are covered by the co-op, you're still responsible for maintaining your apartment's interior. This includes things like repairs to appliances, plumbing within your unit, and keeping the space in good condition.

  • Respecting the Community: Living in a co-op means living in close proximity to others. Being considerate of your neighbors and adhering to house rules fosters a harmonious and respectful environment for everyone.

Shareholders play a vital role in shaping the success of the co-op. By actively participating, upholding your responsibilities, and engaging with the board, shareholders can ensure a well-maintained building, a strong sense of community, and ultimately, a sound investment for you and your fellow shareholders. This website will be a platform to facilitate communication, share information, and empower you to be an active participant in our co-op community.
